Pirates Alley :: French Quarter :: New Orleans
Last Saturday I headed down to the French Quarter for 6am in hopes of capturing some good morning light images in Jackson Square. I ended up spending most of the sunrise creating images of “Cafe Du Monde” and afterwards I walked over to the St. Louis Cathedral and made my way into Pirates Alley. I started off photographing a couple of freshly painted buildings and some unique doorways in the Alley. When I had finished the door shots I turned around and noticed the backlit Lamp Post and I immediately started composing the shot below. It was later in the morning and I knew the Alley wouldn’t be empty once the tourist and local vendors started making their way in the square. I ended up with 4 decent shots and decided on the one with the two people walking by since it added an extra Welcomed Element to the Composition. I definitely want to shoot this same composition with various weather conditions…preferably with fog or even a Night Shot.

Christmas Eve on Canal St.
I was hoping to head downtown on this Christmas Eve and take advantage of the Wet Streets and Christmas Lights on Canal St. Unfortunately the rain never let up nor were the Christmas Lights on. I managed to grab a couple of shots before heading back home.
